TUTU'S DREAM

R. Riecke Gernon

When Tutu was a little girl
She had but one endeavor.
"Someday I'll be a nurse, she said,
The best one ever".

As years went by her dream alive
Still heading for that fame.
"I just can't wait to have those letters
Fall in behind my name".

As more years passed and time approached
To enter nursing school.
She applied and was accepted
To which she said "real cool".

The first real step to fulfill her dream
Was now well on it's way.
With sheer determination
She knew she was in to stay.

She put her heart and soul
Into achieving this very end.
And obviously it all paid off
'Cause she's now an LPN.

But Tutu had much more in mind.
She wanted more, you see.
So back to school she went
To get her Associates Degree.

With these two steps behind her
And a giant leap to come,
She buckled down for this last step
And jumped right in the scrum.

These last two steps were taxing
And were not so easily done.
But with Tutu's disposition
She made it look like fun.

Now with Tutu's dream
Finally coming to an end,
Her childhood wish was here.
Tutu, BSN-RN
