Deb Hockenberry was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is the oldest of six children. When Deb was twelve years old, her family moved to Altoona, Pennsylvania. She has always wanted to write for children. Since she has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Deb has more time to devote to writing for children.
She attended Altoona Area High School and went on to work at several different jobs until the Multiple Sclerosis forced her out of the workplace. Deb took the Basic Course for writing for children from The Institute of Children's Literature. Deb followed this up with a second course from the same Institute
Deb has had an article published in COMMON VISION in November 2001. COMMON VISION is a Multiple Sclerosis newsletter. She has also had a childrens non-fiction story published in the July 2002 issue of Writers Hood.com http://www.writershood.com.
Deb currently lives in Altoona, Pennsylvania. She shares an apartment with her cat, Sasha.
